Want to make your Valentine really happy? Want to woo a new Valentine? Want to show your Valentine how much you love her? Flowers And a poem go hand in hand. Here is one of Eden Florist’s most popular floral arrangements, Sweet Thoughts:

Starting at only $44.95, the sweet Thoughts consists fo a graceful heart of bear grass… tied with purple waxflower blossoms… forms a heart that appears to float above the velvety red roses in this delightful bouquet, arranged in a ruby-red cube vase. Send this beautiful floral arrangement to someone you love, and they’ll think sweet thoughts about you! Red roses and purple waxflower accented with variegated pittosporum and bear grass arrive in a red glass cube vase. (choice of colors)

Romantic Valentine’s Poetry:

Shall I Compare Thee

Shall I compare thee to a Summer’s day?
Thou are more lovely and more temperate:
Rough winds do shake the darling buds of May,
And Summer’s lease hath all too short a date:
Sometime too hot the eye of heaven shines,
And often is his gold complexion dimm’d;
And every fair from fair sometime declines,
By chance or nature’s changing course untrimm’d:
But thy eternal Summer shall not fade
Nor lose possession of that fair thou ow’st;
Nor shall Death brag thou wander’st in his shade,
When in eternal lines to time thou grow’st:
So long as men can breathe, or eyes can see,
So long lives this, and this gives life to thee.

News Flash: Valentines Day was not created by the greeting card industry. Here’s the real story of how Valentines Day originated.

Despite occasional grumblings that it was invented by the greeting card industry, Valentine’s Day actually has a long, rich history. Its earliest origins derive from a pagan festival called Lupercalia, in which Romans called upon the god Lupercus to keep the wolves away. As part of the festivities, Roman girls wrote their names on a slip of paper and placed them in a jar for the boys to draw from. The matches were supposed to be sweethearts until the next Lupercalia.

Lupercalia evolved into Valentine’s Day after Emperor Claudius II, believing married men would prefer staying with their families to fighting his wars, decreed that Roman soldiers were forbidden to wed. According to legend, a priest named Valentine conducted secret marriage ceremonies in defiance of the edict. On February 14, the eve of Lupercalia, he was beheaded for his crime.

After Valentine was sanctified, Christian priests adapted the pagan holiday, moving it back a day to honor him.

In a study done by the Society of American Florists they found that “Flowers Lead Toward “Better Bottom Line”

“Naturalizing the workplace can lead to more productive workers and a better bottom line,” Joanna Poncavage tells readers, touting SAF’s Impact of Flowers & Plants on Workplace Productivity Study.

“Recent scientific research at Texas A&M University found that ideas, creative performance and problem solving improve substantially in places with flowers and plants,” Poncavage says.

In 2003, SAF partnered with an internationally recognized research team at Texas A&M University to learn how flowers and plants in the workplace impact productivity and problem solving.

“The Texas A&M research is a great sales tool to help convince businesses why they need flowers,” says Jennifer Sparks, SAF’s vice president of marketing. “Commercial accounts represent a profitable market for florists, and while they do require some upfront efforts, the long-term rewards are significant.”

In fact, I have had several customers tell me that flowers do the trick!

We have an attorney who sends flowers to clients to thank them for their business and for their referrals. They always call and thank her and oftentimes will end up being our customers.

One customer was trying to get an appointment with the Human Resource Director of a Big Company and he could not get past the gatekeeper. He called for about the 5th time and was again brushed off. While speaking with the assistant he noticed she was sneezing a little and asked if she was okay. She told him she was just getting over a cold. He called my shop and ordered a “chicken soup” arrangement and had it delivered that day. Needless to say, he got the appointment and subsequently the business.

FLOWERS WORK!

Here’s what one satisfied customer has to say about Eden Florist work:
“On behalf of the faculty and staff of Northwest Christian Academy I just want to say a BIG THANK YOU! The arrangement is beautiful. Blossom and I will have the vase for a long time. You will be seeing and hearing form us in the near future.” Marcia Davis

So if you were wondering whether or not flowers would help you close the sale… this study should give you at least one more reason to SEND FLOWERS.

Libra ~ September 24 – October 23

The romantic and charming Libran is considered the most balanced of signs (hence the symbolic scales). This air sign is often known as a kind and gentle diplomat. The Libra is a dreamer by nature, able to see the bigger picture. Libra is fair, elegant and refined. The intelligent Libra thrives on balance.

Gerbera daisies suit a Libra’s artful eye. Librans like full, lush bouquets with lots of flowers. The balancing fair nature of Libra enjoys fragrant bouquets of roses.

Libra’s colors are blue, lavender, pale greens and their birthstone is the opal.

Be sure to order flowers for your favorite Libran from Eden Florist!

In a study entitled, “The Role of Flowers and Plants in the Bereavement Process,” funded jointly by the American Floral Endowment and the Society of American Florists Information Committee, more than half of the bereaved surveyed strongly agreed that flowers were a critical component of the funeral ritual that helped them deal with their grief.

She goes on to say, “At the funeral service, flowers also help brighten a somber environment and provide a topic of conversation and a tranquil focal point.”

More important than the role of flowers in keeping conversation going, the study further demonstrated that because of their soothing qualities, sympathy flowers displayed at funerals actually had a positive impact on the emotional well-being of the bereaved.

After the funeral service, arrangements and plants act as keepsakes to brighten the home and in the case of flowering plants, can serve as a living memorial to the deceased. Not only that, caring for the plants can provide hours of pleasure and an emotional connection to the missing loved one.”
